A new study has found that the heartburn medication Nexium can reduce the risk of the sudden loss of hearing. The study, from the New England Journal of Medicine, was published in the July issue of theJournal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Nexium, which is sold under the brand name Prilosec, is one of the most widely used antacids for heartburn. The risk of heartburn, or ulcers, has been linked to Nexium. However, the exact heartburn drug has not been proven to reduce ulcers.
The findings come from thein itsNew England Journal of Medicineof June 2, 2018. It compared Nexium to the same drug Prilosec in patients with normal heartburn.
The results of the study were published inArchives of Internal Medicineonline inJanuary2017. The study showed that patients who received Nexium had a lower chance of a heartburn episode. Patients taking Prilosec also had a lower heartburn episode.
The results also came from theof September 28, 2018, and theJournal of Dermatologyof February 6, 2019. The study found that Nexium can reduce the risk of sudden loss of hearing by 50 percent and heartburn by 50 percent, both of which are more common than the Prilosec.
The study found that Nexium can lower the risk of sudden loss of hearing by 49 percent, but the study did not find a statistically significant difference between the two. The study found that the Prilosec may have a lower heartburn risk than Nexium.
The researchers also noted that the study found no evidence that Nexium is associated with an increased risk of heartburn or ulcers. However, the study found that Nexium may be safe for people with cardiovascular disease.
Other studies of heartburn have also found a similar result. For example, in 2017, theJournal of the American College of Physiciansfound that people taking a single tablet of Nexium were four times as likely to develop heartburn as people taking two or more tablets.
